Patient Specialty Program

The Patient Specialty Program is designed with a focus on compassion, health, and dignity. This program is separated into 3 different groups: Tuck-In, Gift of a Day, and Take Flight.

Old Friends

With the help of multiple volunteers, hospice nursing and office staff, volunteers, local businesses, and generous donations, Wings of Hope is able to offer, to partnered hospice and care facilities, 3 specialized programs specifically created for patients, their families, and their caregivers.

The Tuck-in program is a supportive service provided to patients by volunteers. Every Thursday, volunteers call or visit patients and receive all requests and needs to ensure each patient is "tucked in" for the weekend. This specialized service offers patients comfort, knowing they are not being forgotten, and reassurance by caregivers that they will have enough supplies and medication to last until the next scheduled nursing visit.

Gift of a Day is a unique offering of granting a patient's final request or wish. This program typically involves many moving pieces, volunteers, staff, and businesses, to create the perfect day with all the fixin's. Memories are cherished and held onto for years to come by loved ones and participants alike.

This gift of a day program is cherished and individualized to each patient's life memories or last bucket list item that they've always dreamed of checking off. From riding in a corvette or a dinner in Paris, to meeting their hero or finding a long lost relative, we work endlessly to create the most memorable experience possible for each patient participating in the program.

Take Flight offers 24-hour companionship during the final 24-48 hours of life to relieve caregivers and offer emotional support. When patients begin showing signs of their final days of life, volunteers are available to stay around the clock. This service is especially important to those with minimal to no family. No one should fear passing alone, and the stress and anxiety of a caregiver leaving the bedside weighs heavily during this final stage. Take Flight volunteers are able to assist with meal preparation and perform general house sitting and pet/childcare services to allow loved ones to be near during this time.
